| When Elder Lynes and I got assigned to Benton Harbor, MI we both felt the sense of urgency to get out and teach as many people as we could, we had been teaching person to person, but decided we need to be able to teach many people at once. We had felt the urgency as the Sons of Mosiah went out and labored among Lamanites. So when this was legal we went to other Church services and were given many opportunties to talk to various members of congregations. We had went to the Jewish Synagogues, Lutherans, Church of God in Christ, Pentecostal Baptist, New Life Revivalist, etc.
Elder Lynes was invited to give a Sermon on Stage in a local revival Church. He got up and spoke about GOD and Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation, followed by GOD's pattern for revealing Truth. As soon as he mentioned GOD called a prophet today named Joseph Smith the minister had the microphone disconnected and then thanked Elder Lynes for speaking.
After the service the minister told us to only teach what they believed. We had thanked him for the opportunity to speak there. At least we however got to plant a seed there, and we were seen. It was a funny experience, but it was great in that we got to reach many people in a positive way, and the community began to know who we are. The Lord labored right beside us and we felt His love and support. |
